Signs You May Have Termites

Termites are called “silent destroyers” for a reason. They work inside walls, under floors, and through structural wood without any visible evidence until the damage is serious. Watch for these warning signs:

• Mud tubes on your foundation, basement walls, or crawl space piers — these pencil-width tubes are termite highways between the colony and your home
• Swarmers (winged termites) emerging indoors, especially February through May in the St. Louis area — swarm season peaks in March and April
• Hollow-sounding wood when you tap on baseboards, door frames, or window sills
• Buckling paint or bubbling drywall that looks like water damage but has no moisture source
• Piles of small wings near windows, doors, or light fixtures after a swarm event
• Soft or crumbling wood in the basement, crawl space, or around exterior door frames

If you notice any of these signs, do not wait. Termite damage is progressive, and every week of delay means more structural loss. Call for an inspection immediately.

Our Termite Treatment Process

Roberts takes a comprehensive approach to termite treatment. Where some companies offer partial treatments — what we call the “band-aid method” — we treat the entire structure. Partial treatments save money up front but often make the problem worse by pushing termites to untreated areas.

Termidor HE Liquid Barrier Treatment

Termidor HE (High Efficiency) is the gold standard liquid termiticide. It uses fipronil, a non-repellent active ingredient that termites cannot detect. Instead of avoiding treated soil, termites move through it and carry the product back to the colony, creating a “transfer effect” that eliminates the entire colony — not just the termites that contact the treated zone.

• Full exterior trench treatment around the foundation perimeter
• Soil rod injection at 18-inch intervals for deep penetration
• Drilling and treating all hard surfaces — garages, porches, patios, and sidewalks adjacent to the structure
• Foam application into wall voids, sill plates, and behind drywall where active termites or damage are found
• Application at label rate: 2 gallons per 10 linear feet per foot of depth

Sentricon Always Active System

After the liquid treatment eliminates the immediate threat, the Sentricon Always Active system provides ongoing, 24/7 protection. In-ground bait stations are installed around your home’s perimeter at 5-6 foot intervals — tighter spacing than most competitors use — because more intercept points mean faster detection and faster colony elimination.

Every station contains Recruit HD bait from day one. This is not a “monitor and wait” system. If termites find a station, they find bait immediately. The active ingredient (hexaflumuron) is an insect growth regulator that prevents termites from molting, and it spreads through the colony via food sharing. The colony starves from within.

Termite Warranty & Ongoing Protection

Every Roberts termite treatment comes with a 1-year warranty from the treatment date, renewable annually. Renewal requires either an active Sentricon bait monitoring system or, at minimum, a yearly termite inspection. This ensures your home has continuous protection and gives us the ability to catch any new activity early.
